Описание: Yamatai's performance of Echo at PULSE 2024. This piece, composed by Masataka Kobayashi of the professional taiko ensemble Bonten, is characterized by its distinctive chorus of flowy choreography that stems from the theme of rebirth. This year we are honored to have Miyako Seki of Bonten to join us for our performance!

PULSE 2024 was Yamatai's twelfth annual Spring concert. Held on April 20, 2024, Yamatai performed for over a thousand audience members at Cornell University's famous Bailey Hall.

Yamatai is Cornell University’s one and only taiko group. Founded in 2006, Yamatai is energetically developing its individual style as a relatively young taiko team. Our current repertoire consists of pieces written by Bonten (a professional taiko group in Japan), traditional and community taiko pieces, as well as original compositions by Yamatai members and alumni. Through rigorous study and training, Yamatai seeks to explore musical possibilities of taiko drumming in contemporary adaptations while respecting the origins of the traditional art. We are excited to be a part of the growing international taiko community, and to share our passion for taiko with our audience!
