Modi will attend the 70th birthday celebrations of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, Bhutan’s revered fourth king and father of the current monarch, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. During the visit, PM Modi and the Bhutanese King will jointly inaugurate the 1020-MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project, a symbol of the two nations’ strong energy cooperation. He will also hold talks with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay to strengthen ties in energy, security, and development.
