Onion Coconut chutney for idlis and dosas
================================
2 medium onions (sliced)
2 ½ tbsp chana dal (chickpea)
2 ½ tbsp urad dal (black gram)
2-3 dried red chilies
2 sprigs kadi patta (curry leaves)
½ tsp salt
½ cup fresh grated coconut
1 green chili
1” piece fresh ginger
2 tbsp oil
Water for blending
Heat oil, add the dals and roast on medium flame until slightly brown.
Add red chilies and kadi patta. Mix well.
Add the sliced onions, salt, and roast till golden.
Add the fresh grated coconut and roast for 30 seconds.
Transfer to a blender. Add the green chili, fresh ginger and blend to a smooth paste with little water.
Enjoy with hot idlis and dosas.
