BASIC RASAM RECIPE 🍜🍜🍅
Rasam is a south Indian curry/soup usually had with rice. It is made with tamarind, tomatoes, pepper, cumin, garlic, lentils etc. There are many different types of rasam based on the ingredients used. But the basic recipe remains the same. This rasam is sour, spicy in taste. Its best to have rasam in chilly winters or when you are suffering from cough and cold. The spices and herbs that go into the rasam help in relieving the cold and also act as a digestives. Rasam can be had plain like a soup as an appetizer. it can also be served with steamed rice along with a side vegetable dish .
Ingredients :
2 tomatoes
2 Green chilli
10 garlic pods
4 tbs coriander leaves
2 tbs finely chopped onion
1 tsp musturd seeds
1 Tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp asefotida
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp black pepper corns
2 dry red chilli
1 tbs tamarind pulp
Method :
Add in a jar cumin seeds, pepper corns, asefotida, garlic pods, Green chilli, curry leaves, little coriander leaves, coriander powder, red chilli powder, Turmeric powder. Grind all the ingredients. Add in one tomato and grind it. Heat the oil in a pan. Add musturd seeds, allow it to splutter. Add in onion and garlic. Fry till became Brown. Add remaining tomato and salt. Cook the tomatoes till became mushy. Add the grinded spices and tamarind water. Add water and cook for 5 minutes. Rasam is ready to serve.
