Daniel Owino Misiani of Shirati Kabwana, North Mara in Tanzania is considered the greatest Benga Musician of all time. This derives from his unique ability to teach, prophesy, warn, praise, and do social commentaries that still ring true, over 15 years after his tragic demise.
D.O was also a social gadfly and at most times was at odds with the various Governments in the world. He spoke truth to power through his music and chided those who trampled social justice underfoot.
In this song, Misiani correctly prophesies about happenings in Kenya more than 17 years later. His message is loaded with lots of warnings laced with Biblical allusions.
In the song, Misiani also mourns all the fallen Luo heroes and ends it with a powerful chant known as 'Sigiya' in Dholuo.
He praises and encourages Raila Odinga to continue the fight for democracy in Kenya, and warns Wananchi against political vultures. His friendship with and fondness for the foremost opposition leader, saw Raila weep for him and attend his funeral in Tanzania.
