The HP 110 Portables and the (somewhat) DOS-incompatible HP 9114 Floppy Drive

Описание: The HP 100 Series consisted of the Portable 110 and the Portable Plus. Very nice machines, quiet a bit ahead of it's time. And they had a minor role in the 1982 KNIGHT RIDER TV series.

Most portable machines where bulky and heavy.
But in the mid-80s, various vendors brought a new generation of machines in a really portable form factor. The HP 100 series was ahead of it's time, and it feature a very unique, though HP-specific, connectivity option for peripherals: the HP Interface Loop (aka HP-IL), which could be seen as a somewhat precursor technology to later year's USB.
Join me for a look at these machines, and the troubles I had to deal with when I started using the HP9114 floppy disk drive.
