SMART GRAINS HUB: Community Grain Storage for African Farmers
Hi, I'm Ivan, a high school student and entrepreneur from South Sudan This is my pitch for the Blue Ocean Student Entrepreneur Competition 2026.
THE PROBLEM:
Across Africa, small farmers lose 30-50% of their harvest after growing it—$4 billion worth of food lost every year. Rats, rain, and mold destroy grain while millions go hungry. Farmers are forced to sell immediately at low prices to middlemen, then families pay triple months later.
MY SOLUTION:
Smart Grains Hub is a community-based grain storage service that helps small farmers:
✅ Reduce post-harvest losses (from 30% to under 5%)
✅ Earn fair prices (up to 5 times more)
✅ Provide affordable, quality grain to local families
✅ Keep profits in the community
