Soundgarden - Never the Machine Forever (Drum Cover)

Matt Cameron is in my top 5 drummers. Every time I chuck on Soundgarden I'm reminded how much I've taken from his playing. Aggressive, calculated, plays to the song with tonnes of fire. I'm not sure if I have a favourite song but as it stands, Down on the Upside is my favourite album by them. It's so unique and it goes in so many directions, which is what I typically look for in an album.

This particular song is just unbelievable. I love how unhinged it is in every aspect, even down to the lyrics. It sounds like the wheels could come off at any moment! Which isn't entirely untrue because, man, the left hand endurance on that ride pattern is REAL. Trying to keep it consistent is really hard (which you can probably hear) and there is 0 rebound, so the cramps were many, especially after a few takes. Adding the constant switching between right and left lead, the odd time and the fact that there's no click to this song made it way more challenging than I gave it credit for. So, here's my best effort!

One take, no edits. I started getting caught in the perfection trap but thought I would just get this one out before burned out on the song, the journey doesn't end! So here it is warts and all.

I'll be looking to upgrade to more mic's on the kit as you're probably sick of having your ears punished with cymbals because I don't have enough channels for toms lol. Was hoping to push my audio knowledge/skills on this one, but I just wanted to get this one out and the video side of things occupied enough of my time.
