An inaugural lecture or address is a special event for an academic staff member at a tertiary or higher education institution and represents a milestone in that person's career. Through an inaugural lecture, the University of Pretoria formally acknowledges such a person's appointment or promotion to full professor. Significant outputs are needed to reach full professorship.
On 17 March 2022, the Faculty celebrated the promotion to full professor of Prof Leith Meyer, Director of the Faculty's Centre for Veterinary Wildlife Research, when he delivered his inaugural address, entitled 'Applying science to veterinary practices to enhance welfare and conservation of wildlife.'
