Another Mod, this was also in my YT Feed, and so, I checked it. I saw one other person (Quote Balrog) playing through this mod, not all of it to be mostly blind, and, boy howdy, I have some problems with this Mod, But we'll get to that when we get to that.
What is "Iron Bond"? It's a Japanese MOD made by idk who, It may have been Duke Serkol, once again, i don't know, It's not in the forum post, neither is listed in the different text files. This mod has Curly as the main protagonist, this Mod attempts to tell what the past of Curly was, what Curly does between the progress of Quote through the Original Adventure, that kind of stuff. First, the past, Curly awakes in the same cave as Quote, then leaves him behind to explore the "Past" locations of the game, this features some "New" events in the game, namely, a "Younger" King, a new mimiga which is the mother of the 4 colons Curly ends raising, One young Igor from Egg Corridor, and some Mimiga killer robots. That's the first part of the game, the next part is the "Present events" of the game, from the sand zone to the sacred grounds, all of that is this game.
Story: Most of the Vanilla game is present, but for the "New" stuff, Curly awakes in the same cave as Quote and decides to leave him behind, during the adventure she learns that a past crown bearer is still alive.
And here's my review of the Mod, I'm going to focus on the "Additions", this means, the original story is out of the equation, And also important to note, If you are a fan of this Mod, the following may not be of your liking. Alright, This Mod has an interesting premise, namely, what Curly events were, outside the vanilla locations, And here's were the problems lies, The new characters are not the problem, for the most part anyway, Colon is an interesting addition, because that explains what the origin of the Colons was, However, the way she ends is kinda... out of the blue, I can believe the red flower crap, after all in grasstown there was one mimiga in the future who eats those, but still, kinda out of the blue, for no reason, and then there's the Mimiga Killer Robots, which are kinda underutilized, they are prominent only in the first part of the game, after that they are non existent, and I kinda get it, but I wanted to see some of them, outside the past events. Next problem, the Bosses, which are, not entirely new, but they share one fatal flaw, if not WORSE than the bosses of the Boss Rush in Jenka's Nightmare, the bosses are stacked on top of other bosses, which is Unbalanced and kinda unfair, to put it lightly, Enraged colon and the Killer robot isn't that bad, but latter bosses can be horrible, from forcing the player to fight a boss with a lvl1 weapon, to spamming enemies and generators on top of bosses, to spoil a bit, The misery fight is stupid, it has the bat and cupid generator from the sacred grounds, which can make the fight more hard for no reason, Bosses in general are a big problem, to name a few more, Boss Frog can be tricky with the pressure of being drowned, the red ogre which has very powerful attacks, and probably THE WORST boss in the game, Monster X, what makes this boss so bad? EVERYTHING, this has Enemy spam, then can lower your weapon and make the boss IMPOSSIBLE to beat, and the cherry on top, YOU HAVE NO GROUND AND NEED TO BE FLOATING IN THE AIR ALL THE FUCKING TIME. And these were just the bosses, how are the locals?Nnot any better really, the new waterway is a big maze, and it's horrible, it's trial and error, it wastes time, and it also has little rom for error, or else you drown, and it also features one spot that is almost impossible with machine gun lvl3, this part of the game is atrocious, the sacred grounds are alright, nothing crazy but nothing too stellar. But wait, there's more, the game also has some obscure stuff to collect, namely, the booster parts, Who in the right mind, blind, would of guessed to go to the grasstown bike for these? and why is the healt upgrades so minimum in contrast with the vanilla game? In total, 40HP, but only 30HP is accessible pre-last cave, vanilla game is 50HP pre-last cave. and that would be the things I can say about this mod, and most of these are negative, the positive stuff is that it's a neat concept, and that's all.
Conclusion: Overall, this MOD is not really hard, Is annoying, granted, it is hard, for the wrong reasons, this requires skill, the post says it at the start, but I didn't felt a challenge from this game, I felt annoyed, the difficulty spikes are all over the place, and spamming enemies on top of bosses isn't challenging, it's artificial difficulty. I'm being harsh on this mod, I know, and that's sad, because I expected more from this, I wanted to like it, I really did.
