Grootschalige installatie in een leegstaand kantoorgebouw door beeldend kunstenaar Charl Landvreugd. De installatie is gebaseerd op de Tembe (traditioneel houtsnijwerk- en schilderwerk van de Marrons in Suriname). Een sensorische ervaring waarbij de zintuigen van bezoekers geprikkeld en gevoed worden.

De presentatie als geheel is een gelaagd zelfportret van Landvreugd waarin hij kritisch terugblikt op zijn wordingsproces als kunstenaar en reflecteert op waar hij nu staat. De afmeting van het werk is 25 meter breed bij 15 meter lang en bijna 5 meter hoog. De bezoekers zien een labyrinth waarin zij kunnen verdwalen. De Tembe is een monumentaal werk dat tegelijkertijd de drager is van ander (bestaand en nieuw) werk van de kunstenaar. Daarmee is Movt. Nr.10: Ososma een kunstwerk én tentoonstelling in één. Inhoudelijk geeft het een context voor het vaste thema uit het werk van Landvreugd: een reflectie op de culturele hybriditeit die zo kenmerkend is voor deze tijd.

Ososma is de eerste in een reeks solotentoonstellingen die CBK Zuidoost op locatie programmeert. Met deze reeks willen we inhoud ontwikkelen die in het museale circuit nog niet of met weinig aandacht wordt gebracht. Inhoud die de interculturele samenleving van Nederland reflecteert en uitdaagt.

Charl Landvreugd: Movt. Nr. 10: Ososma

A large scale installation in an empty office building made by visual artist Charl Landvreugd. The installation is based on the plan of a Tembe (the term for wood carving and painting by Maroons in Surinam). A sensory experience in which visitors' senses are stimulated and nourished.

The presentation is a layered self portrait of Landvreugd in which he critically reflects on his artistic process. The format of this work is 25 meters wide, 15 meters long and 5 meters high. The visitor experiences a labyrinth in which they can get lost. In this form of a labyrinth, Movt. Nr. 10: Ososma is an artwork and installation in one. Content wise the installation provides the context for the basic theme in Landvreugd’s work: a reflection on cultural hybridity which is so characteristic for the present time.

Ososma is the first in a series of solo exhibitions that CBK Zuidoost programs on location. With this series, we want to develop content that is not yet or not given much attention to in the museum circuit. Content that reflects and challenges the intercultural society of the Netherlands.
