England and Scotland's group-stage opponents at next year's World Cup were revealed in a razzamatazz ceremony in Washington, DC, dominated by US President Donald Trump.
England will face Croatia, Ghana and Panama in group L, while Scotland will play for a place in the knock-out rounds against Brazil, Morocco and Haiti in group C. Brazil and Scotland have faced each other four times at the World Cup – and also four of the last six times Scotland has qualified.
The draw itself was rather overshadowed by the 90-minute spectacle surrounding it. The event began with President Trump being presented with the inaugural Fifa peace prize, which recognises individuals who have made “exceptional contributions to peace and unity”.
