Joining the Helium Network is an exciting step in building a worldwide network for IoT devices, which is the future. Everything in this world will become more connected and if we are lucky, Helium we be the netwerk used for many of these devices.

However, it's important to know what you are getting into before you do your investment. That's why we cover what you need to know before buying your first hotspot. Being the only hotspot in your area (a lone wolf) is not a good plan, so try to get at least 2 hotspots or have one within a 2km radius. If you want to maximize your rewards you want to reach 4 other hotspots.

Second: make sure you are covering a good area. It's more important to cover a wide area then it is to reach e.g. 10 other hotspots. Reaching 5 hotspots and providing quality coverage for a greater area will be more rewarding. However being able to cover a great distance will require line of sight and that comes down to putting your antenna outside and on a high building. Sadly that is not possible for everyone and not always required (e.g. if you live in the country sight you won't need to be that high compared to a city full of tall buildings that can block your signal).
