In this video we have discussed about the ethnic conflict which prevailed in Sri Lanka after it's independence. The conflict was between the two communities: the Sinhala Community and the Tamils Community which were also called as Sri Lankan Tamils . The Sinhala Community believed that Sri Lanka belonged to them only and not to Tamils.They also beleived that the Sri Lankan government should not give 'concessions' to Sri Lankan Tamils. Due to this neglect, the militant Tamil organisation was formed named as LTTE IN 1983. As the Sri Lankan Tamils were from the Indian origin only, the Indian Tamils forced the Indian Government to protect their interests in Sri Lanka. So, in 1987 Government of India got directly involved in the matter by signing an accord and sent it's troops to Sri Lanka. Eventually, the army and LTTE got into a fight and also the presence of Indian troops was not liked by Sri Lankan people.
Due to these reasons IPKF was pulled out of Sri Lanka in 1989. Countries such as Norway and Iceland also tried to do some negotiations. Finally in 2009 LTTE was vanquished as it's main leader Prabhakaran died.
