“Is that wind… or am I about to become a documentary?”

Naturally, this helps you estimate the rest of the food chain.
Reptiles? Big. Carnivores? Bigger. Things with teeth and confidence? Very big.

On the bright side — and I say this with full survival optimism — protein will never be an issue here. If we ever run out of rations, we can just point at literally anything and say, “Yep. That’s barbecue.”

Of course, UNSC took one look at the wildlife reports and said: “Yeah… humans alone won’t survive this.” So they sent battlebots. Big ones.
Heavily armored ones. The kind that make you feel safe… right up until something bigger walks past them and doesn’t even slow down. Which brings us to us.

We’re stationed here on a ten-hour watch shift, inside a fortified outpost, overlooking a view so beautiful it almost makes you forget that the planet is actively trying to eat you. Almost.

The horizon stretches out with rolling forests, distant mountains, and skies that look suspiciously peaceful — like the planet is luring you into a false sense of security. Birds fly overhead. Giant birds. Obviously.

Our priorities are simple: Don’t get eaten. Enjoy the view anyway. Stop any pirate who’s brave (or stupid) enough to think this is an easy target.
Radar’s on.
Battlebots are standing by.
Coffee is still warm, which statistically means nothing bad has happened yet. Every now and then, something massive moves far off in the distance. We don’t zoom in. That’s a tomorrow problem.

For now, we sit. We watch. We breathe.

Ten hours of silence, scenery, and the comforting knowledge that if something goes wrong… We probably won’t have to worry about it for very long.
