Pakistan's canal system is the best 150-year-old canal system in the world. Any canal system in the world consists of dams, rivers, barrages, headworks and canals. Head Baloki is also a part of this system which is built on the Ravi River in Baloki village. The purpose of building Baloki Barrage was to ensure water supply to the Lower Bari Do Aab Canal. Later, another canal, Baloki-Sulaimanki Link Canal, was taken out from Baloki Barrage, through which the water shortage in the Sutlej River was met.
