My name is Jody Toor and I represent the writing of Langley. Willowbrook. I was born at Langley Memorial Hospital, and I grew up in a very nurturing environment that instilled in me the values of hard work and community.
My childhood was filled with supportive family moments, and it laid the foundation for my passion for helping others. My interest in medicine began at a very young age as I was always fascinated with how the human body worked and the important sense of health. I chose to go to medical school because I wanted to make a direct impact on people's lives and their well-being.
My personal experience, particularly with infertility and cancer, opened my eyes to the benefits of alternate therapies. I saw first hand how holistic approach could complement traditional medicine and promote overall well-being. Holistic Medicine is an approach to healthcare that considers the whole person's mind, body and spirit. Rather than just treating symptoms or illness, it aims to understand how these aspects are interconnected and seek to achieve balance and Wellness through various treatments, including lifestyle changes, nutrition and alternate therapies. Being a cancer survivor has profoundly shaped my take on life and medicine. It taught me the importance of the value of supportive community. This experience deepened my understanding of the patient experience. Highlighting the needs for compassionate care that addresses both physical and emotional needs. It promotes me to advocate for holistic approaches that treat the whole person. I am incredibly proud to be a mother. My daughters inspire me every day to be my best self. Being a mother means nurturing, guiding, and supporting them as they grow, and it reinforces my commitment to creating a better future for the next generation.
I want to take this opportunity to address the recent allegations suggesting that I'm misleading people about my status as a. Doctor, I would like to clarify that I attended medical school and was granted my MD. I chose not to register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC because I decided to embark on a new journey with a different healthcare approach. One major issue we face in British Columbia is recognizing a foreign medical graduates.
Every healthcare professional works hard. And deserves the right to hold the MD credentials. Regardless of where they achieve their education, the struggle for recognizing a foreign medical graduate is particularly a pressing matter in Canada, where we are experiencing a healthcare crisis caused by physician shortage and increasing demand for service, it is crucial to understand that I had clearly stated on the Conservative Party of BC Website that I'm not registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons at BC and that I am non prescribing practitioner. I've chosen to pursue my PhD in integrative medicine while my institution is not credited to confirm MD degrees, it allows me to be board certified in Canada and as a Doctor of Natural Medicine and a Doctor of Integrative Medicine. I stand in good standing with the Board of Integrative Medicine. From my experience as a practitioner over the past few years, I have seen that many individuals turn to holistic medicine when they feel they have lost hope in the allopathic model. I truly believe that both medical models should work together for the benefits of patients.
False allegations can cause severe damage to a dedicated individual's reputation and causing emotional distress that affects both personal and professional lives. Moreover, these claims undermine the vital role of diverse healthcare providers, including more in medical graduates whose skills are crucial during a healthcare crisis. Recognizing our foreign medical graduates is not just a matter of professional credentials. It's about ensuring that we have a diverse and capable workforce to address the healthcare needs of our communities. In a time when we are in a healthcare crisis, it is vital that we utilize the skills and expertise of all qualified healthcare providers. We need to foster a system that acknowledges everyone's dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our population; unfortunately, I find myself becoming a victim of poor journalism, and I believe there should be accountability, especially regarding my reputation. I'm currently working with my legal team to address this situation if it continues,.
I decided to run for public office when I realized I wanted to make a broader impact on my community, my experiences. Has shown me the importance of having compassionate voices in government. As an MLA my main priorities will include several critical areas that impact our community. Education, healthcare, support for families, children and seniors. Homelessness and addiction, crime and public safety. By prioritizing these areas, I aim to create a healthier, safer community for everyone in Langley/Willowbrook ... cont.
