First section of the Westbound Fastmail going over Canyon Diablo Bridge then crossing over the Route 66 bridge in Flagstaff Arizona.
Built in 1937 by Baldwin, 3460 is one of six 4-6-4 Hudson's from the 3460 class and one of only sixteen 4-6-4 Hudson's on the Santa Fe roster.
3460 was Streamlined for the Super Chief, this styling did add about four tons of weight to the engine and one ton of weight to the tender.
4-8-4 Northern 3765 was almost going to get the same treatment but Santa Fe found this class already over weight from the factory so trying to reduce weight to the rest of the class doomed any shrouding for 3765.
The Hudson is a Broadway Limited Imports 7355 ATSF Blue Goose, #3460, 1951 - 1953 Appearance, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC, Smoke, HO
This locomotive is fresh out of the box, no programing yet.
Note, its is very lout out of the box.
This 19 car Fastmail train is very heavy, the locomotive did pull it up a long 1% grade with almost no trouble at all. Some wheel slipping was noticed but it dragged it up.
Video was filmed on a friends layout.
The layout is modeled between Winslow and Ash Fork on the Albuquerque Division in 1953. The Layout even features Santa Fe's Canyon Diablo Bridge on the layout!
Locomotive is owned by me, everything else belongs to the layout owner
