유리는 투명하고, 그 속에는 설명하기 어려운 신비로운 물성이 있습니다. 보이지 않는 빛이 유리를 통과할 때, 우리는 그 경계에서 새로운 감각을 마주하게 됩니다.

보이지 않는 빛을 어떻게 형태화할 수 있을지, 그 흐름을 어떻게 자신의 언어로 조절하고 다룰 수 있을지를 끊임없이 질문합니다.

전시의 조명들은 단순한 기능을 넘어,빛을 매개로 서로 다른 물성이 만나는 접점에 존재하며, “결합”은 그 순간, 빛이 형태를 얻고 유리가 감각이 되는 이야기를 전합니다.

시선이 닿는 순간,
상호작용은 존재와 존재 사이의 틈을 메우며 연결을 이루고, 그 연결은 새로운 의미가 되어 갑니다.

유리 작가.
1969년 미국 텍사스주에서 자람.
Rhode Island School of Design 으로 학미술 학사 학위 취득.
모교 및 Massachusetts College of Art 에서 교원.
2022년 일본을 방문하여, 대학 교수의 곁에서 작가 활동을 계속.
2007년 토야마에서 PETER IVY / FLOW LAB(RYUDOUKENKYUSHO Co., Ltd.)를 설립.

Glass is transparent,
a mysterious material, hard to define.
When shapeless light passes through, we encounter a quietly unfamiliar sense at its boundary.

I continuously ask how the invisible light might be shaped, and how I can control its flow through a language of my own.

The lights in the exhibition go beyond function.
They exist at the intersection where different materials meet through light, and “Combination” reflects that moment, when light takes on shape and glass becomes sense.

The moment the gaze meets,
Interaction begins to form between presences,
and the connection shapes a new meaning.

Glass artist.
Born and raised in Texas, USA in 1969.
Received Bachelor of Fine Arts, Rhode Island School of Design.
Taught at his alma mater and at the Massachusetts College of Art.
Moved to Japan in 2002 and continued his artistic practice alongside his role as a university professor.
Established PETER IVY / FLOW LAB (RYUDOUKENKYUSHO Co., Ltd.) in Toyama, Japan in 2007.
