Heritage Rescue! | R711 leads the “failed” Eureka Express, Day 2.

In this video, I saw Steamrail Victoria’s R class locomotive R711 lead the Sunday run of the, what I like to call it “The Eureka Express Weekend”. The day prior, R761 ran the Saturday Eureka Express tour to Ballarat and return successfully. But the Sunday event was a failure. At North Geelong C Box, R711 broke down, there was a lot of havoc with the hire ups at Steamrail, they were originally gonna send an N Class to run the rest of the train to Ballarat, but there were no N classes available. So they sent to T Classes to Ballarat, and Cancelled that too. And they stuck to this plan.

The train will shunt into North shore siding. And let the passengers have lunch in Geelong and then run the rest of the train back. Not going up the rest of the way to Ballarat. So In this video, I saw R711 lead the down trip, and some friends and folks let me use there clips of the T Classes run! Thanks Guys. At the time of Uploading, R711 and T356 are at North Geelong, waiting for R711 to be trucked back to Newport and T356 to run light loco back to Newport. Or atleast that’s the plan. Right now, R711 has all of its plates removed so no vandaliseds can take them.
