Описание: This type of steel is widely used in civil construction; it is, on average, three times more resistant to corrosion than common steel. One of its main characteristics is the reddish oxide layer that forms when the steel is exposed to corrosive agents in the environment. It is also applicable in the manufacture of sculptures and decorative objects. In the early 1930s, the North American company United States Steel Corporation promoted the use of steels enriched with these elements, called low alloy steels, and developed a steel commercially named Corten. Originally developed for the railway industry, Corten steel allowed the construction of lighter wagons. However, the corrosion resistance factor was previously unknown, although the benefits of copper and phosphorus in influencing atmospheric corrosion had been recognized since the late 19th century.Only after 1958 did weathering steel begin to be used extensively in architectural works due to its anti-corrosive characteristics..
