1. Tell me about yourself and your experience as a Teaching Assistant.
I have over 3 years of experience assisting in classrooms, supporting both teachers and students, especially in managing group activities, helping with lesson preparation, and providing individual student support.

2. Why do you want to work as a teaching assistant in our school?
Your school’s reputation for academic excellence and inclusive practices inspires me. I’d love to contribute my skills to a positive learning environment where students feel supported.

3. How do you support a teacher during a lesson?
I help by setting up resources, guiding students during activities, maintaining discipline, assisting with classroom organization, and ensuring the teacher can focus on instruction.

4. How do you handle a child who refuses to follow instructions?
I calmly approach the child, try to understand their reason, restate instructions clearly, and use positive reinforcement. If needed, I inform the teacher and follow school policy.

5. How would you help a student struggling with the lesson?
I give them extra time, use visual or hands-on tools, break down instructions into smaller steps, encourage their efforts, and communicate their needs to the teacher for additional strategies.

6. Are you familiar with safeguarding and child protection procedures?
Yes, I know that any concerns must be reported immediately to the safeguarding lead. I always prioritize student safety and confidentiality, following school protocols.

7. How do you manage diversity in a multicultural classroom?
I respect all cultural backgrounds, encourage inclusivity, avoid biased language, and support activities that celebrate different cultures, helping students feel valued.

8. What would you do if a parent approaches you about their child’s progress?
I would respectfully ask the parent to speak with the class teacher, as they are responsible for academic updates. I’d also inform the teacher about the conversation.

9. Describe a time you took initiative in the classroom.
A student was consistently quiet during reading time. I prepared simple reading cards to build their confidence and worked with them daily. The teacher appreciated my initiative.

10. What qualities make a good teaching assistant?
Patience, responsibility, communication skills, flexibility, teamwork, empathy, and a genuine desire to help children succeed in a supportive environment.
