Описание: It is wise to be cautious around rivers and lakes, especially by dusk. Hearing hauntingly beautiful violin-music flowing from the water is usually a bad omen. This means that Näcken is around and is on the hunt for new victims to drag down to his kingdom under water.

Näcken can take any number of shapes but usually appears as a man sitting in the water. He is the dangers of water personified and lures unsuspecting victims with spell binding music to drown them. When taking a swim in a river or lake, a sure way of keeping Näcken at bay is to stick a knife in the ground at the edge of the water.

Some say that Näcken is such a virtuoso that only the devil matches his skill on the violin. This has led adventurous fiddlers to seek lessons from him, often with a deadly outcome for the student. Although, of the students surviving the encounter, most of them live to regret it.

Playing one of Näckens tunes will make anyone who hears it dance frantically. They will dance with joy and laughter, until they realize, that they are unable to stop. The laughter quickly turns to screams of fear and panic, but the dancing continues on. They will dance and dance until their bones and muscles are ground down and all that’s left of them, are their heads.
