Nestled in the breathtaking Garhwal Himalayas, the ancient Kedarnath Temple is one of India’s most sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. In June 2013, this serene town was hit by catastrophic floods and landslides that devastated the region. Remarkably, a massive boulder — now famously called the "Bheem Shila" — shifted into place, blocking the floodwaters and protecting the temple from destruction.
Was it a miracle or a twist of fate? This video explores the incredible story behind this natural barrier and the resilience of Kedarnath Temple.
How to Reach Kedarnath Temple:
Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (about 220 km away)
Nearest Railway Station: Rishikesh or Haridwar (approximately 230 km from Kedarnath)
Road Journey: From Rishikesh or Haridwar, you can take a taxi or bus to Sonprayag or Gaurikund, the base camps for the trek.
