Grounded 2 is a reality; it's a survival action-adventure sequel from Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal that launched in early access on July 29, 2025. It expands the original premise to a new, larger area: Brookhollow Park.
Core Gameplay & Features
Expanded World: The game takes place in a significantly larger, '90s-inspired suburban park, which is more than triple the size of its predecessor's backyard, featuring new biomes like a frozen underbrush area and the recently added "Toxic Tangle" garden.
Rideable Insects: A key new feature is the ability to hatch, raise, and ride insect mounts (called "Buggies"), such as a tank-like Ladybug, to traverse the large environment and use in combat.
Deeper RPG Mechanics: The game introduces character archetypes (e.g., Fighter, Ranger, Mage, Rogue) with specialized abilities and a reworked mutation system, allowing for more customized playstyles and strategic team dynamics.
Enhanced Building & Crafting: Players have more creative freedom with expanded building tools and new kits (like the Pumpkin Set and floor hatches), along with new resources to gather and new weapons/armor to craft.
Co-op & Single-player: The game fully supports both single-player and multiplayer modes, allowing up to three friends to join the adventure.
Ongoing Story & Mysteries: Players continue to uncover a narrative-driven mystery involving the sinister Ominent corporation, with new labs and challenges available in the current early access version.
