Hunter Mountain - Way Out to Rusk Road

Описание: Way Out (intermediate) to Rusk Road (beginner) is a ski of varying difficulties located at Hunter Mountain. The trails run from the top of the Hunter North area of the mountain down to the Hunter North Base Area. The run starts off to the skier's left when starting downhill from the top of the Northern Express chairlift as Way Out, an intermediate trail. The trail quickly passes underneath the top of the Northern Express chairlift. The trail then merges with Way In (an advanced trail) and takes a sharp turn to the skier's right. The trail is of medium width and features a few steeper sections. Near the bottom of the run, Way Out continues straight to the bottom of the Zephyr Express Quad, while I instead took a turn to the skier's right onto Rusk Road. Rusk Road is a beginner trail. It is flat and connects the Way Out trail to the bottom of Hunter North and the Northern Express chairlift. Rusk Road is part of a new ski area expansion for 2018, Hunter North. The new expansion includes four new trails, served by a detachable six-pack chairlift. The expansion increased the mountain's size by 15% and was the largest ski area expansion in the Northeast for 15 years. Prior to the expansion, Way Out was rated as an advanced trail due to its steep headwall, however, with the new expansion, Way Ouy was rerouted to run around the headwall and its rating was changed to intermediate. The headwall can still be skied but it is now called Way In and is still rated as an advanced trail.

Hunter Mountain is a ski area located in Hunter, New York. The ski area is located in the Catskill Mountain Range. Hunter is known for its wide variety of terrain and for some of the most challenging terrain in Southern New York State. The ski area is broken into four main areas: Hunter East, the smallest area of the mountain, located separately from the other areas, is the ski area's main beginner area, though the top of it does have some advanced/intermediate terrain; the Main Mountain, the top of which is home to mostly more advanced groomers but is also home to some natural terrain and two intermediate groomers; Hunter West, which is home almost exclusively to advanced and expert trails most of which are left entirely natural; and the new for 2018 area, Hunter North which is home to a mixture of intermediate and advanced groomers. Self-described as the "Closest Big Ski Area to New York City," Hunter is a very popular ski area. Located only 2.5 hours north of New York City and 1.5 hours south of Albany, as well as only about 30 min off of exits 20 and 21 off of the New York Thruway/I-87, the ski area is very easy to get to. Many buses also run to the mountain. The ski area was bought by Vail Resorts when they purchase Hunter's former owner, Peak Resorts. As a result, Hunter is a destination on the Epic Pass, with unlimited access on the Epic and Epic Local passes and restricted access on the Northeast Value Pass (all info as of March 2021).
