In Supernatural Season 1, Episode 7, "Hook Man," Sam and Dean investigate the urban legend of the Hook Man in Iowa, where a vengeful 19th-century spirit with a hook for a hand is attacking people near a college campus. The brothers discover that the spirit is being unwittingly controlled by Lori, a preacher's daughter, through a necklace containing the melted hook, and they must destroy the necklace to stop the killings.
