A Libation Ceremony Honoring John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, and the Ancestral Lineage of Black Music
In this sacred offering, Living Kwanzaa 365 founder Chanda Branch, leads a tambiko, which is the traditional African libation ceremony honoring the ancestors of the Black musical tradition. Originally performed live at the 17th Annual John Coltrane Edu-tainment Festival, this tambiko has a focus on the musical power couple John and Alice Coltrane and celebrates their divine creativity, spiritual discipline, and the melody of love that continues to inspire generations.
Through invocation, rhythm, and reflection, this tambiko calls us to remember that music is prayer, that art is service, and that our ancestors still sing through us.
🕯️This video is a gift of gratitude to everyone who joined our community at the John Coltrane Edu-tainment Festival in Hamlet, NC. May it bless you home, your heart, and your creative journey.
