Another video to promote the astounding musical genius of Frank Zappa. Here we have a guitar solo that only FZ could have imagined.
I've spent countless hours trying to figure out what he's doing here... There are some shocking tuplet rhythms that didn't happen by accident: the frequent 10:9's, the 38:36 phrase [two 19:18 in a row], and the ludicrous phrase of 7:9's, which combined with the original phasered tone and palm muting stands out as one of the most remarkable and unique sections of any guitar solo I've ever heard.
This would take forever to perfect so I just wanted to get a video out there that shows the transcription, in its current state. Enjoy the Sibelius playback, with lots of stuff I didn't fix. (I hid dynamics to reduce clutter.) I made the cover version in Ableton Live relatively quickly from the MIDI track exported from Sibelius, so it's pretty mechanical and the bends do roughly the right things, but not quite.
