In 2017, pictures started appearing online of the degraded interior of a once magnificent Brisbane home. Known to locals as Lamb House and christened by the family of that name as Home, it was adrift on memories of lives lived within its walls, slowly sinking into a muddy tide of time and neglect.
Abandoned Brisbane called and we went to explore. And it was beyond good.
Home in 2024 has now been exactingly restored to its place as a matriarch of modern Meanjin/Brisbane. The house remembers the hope and aspiration of the newly arrived Australians at the turn of the 20th century. And with its views across Kangaroo Point to the heart of Brisbane, it keeps watch over the city's ambitions ahead.
