A statewide bandh has been called in Telangana today by different political parties. The bandh is organised by the Backward Class Joint Action Committee. Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka appeals public participation against BJP during October 18 BC bandh. The bandh is organised against the Telangana HC's stay on Backward Classes quota in local body elections. Court issued an interim stay on govt order providing 42% reservation for BCs in local body polls. After HC's stay, the state govt appealed to Supreme Court but was denied relief. Supreme Court rejects Telangana’s plea, citing 67% total quota exceeding 50% reservation cap. All major political parties supported the agitation, with leaders disrupting bus services. Schools and colleges mostly on Diwali break; bandh unlikely to disrupt educational institutions.
