Music People exists to entertain, uplift and inspire, and is driven by a love for the art and also by the opportunity to use the platform to spread messages of inclusivity, awareness and change.


Curated by four music directors – Ben Steer (Continuous Music), Ben Campbell (Newcastle Music Collective), Emily Wurramara, and Karen Eivers, and made possible thanks to an Industry Response Program Grant from The City of Newcastle, the show not only shines a light on some of the country’s most talented songwriters and performers, but it also puts the focus on Newcastle and its iconic Civic Theatre.


Produced by Maddie Palmer (RAGE, JTV, The Feed) and Matt Field (Field Frequency), Music People has been conceptualised with the aim of not only spotlighting Newcastle’s idyllic music community, but to bring artists from around the country into the fold as the series continues to grow in 2021.
