Modal Auxiliaries have a grammatical meaning. Modal Auxiliaries express the speaker's attitude to what is said. Generally, there is only one model in a verb phrase. A model Auxiliary always comes first in a sentence and it has a tense as well. Model Auxiliaries are used to convey the meanings / attitudes such as "obligations, ability, necessity, possibility, Permission, offers, predictions, intentions, assumptions, suggestions, politeness etc.
