At the end of a routine flight, my Simonini Victor 1 Super engine experienced a complete propeller hub separation from the reduction drive—on the ground, just seconds before I shut the engine down. I was lucky.
In this video, I walk through:
• What happened and how I discovered the failure
• What caused it (a critical design flaw in the original pusher-style hub)
• How Simonini responded (new hub, repair parts, propeller discount)
• What you must do now if you’re running this engine in a tractor configuration
⚠️ This issue only affects tractor configurations — if your aircraft has a pusher setup, you’re not impacted.
🛑 If you're flying a Simonini Victor 1 in a tractor setup, inspect your hub immediately and contact Simonini to request the redesigned version.

This is the only known failure of its kind. Let’s keep it that way.

This incident prompted me to redesign the engine mount on my MiniMax and create a custom cowl. I’ll be sharing more on that soon.
