Eastern European countries in the Slavic region are widely known for having many beautiful women.
Ukraine, Belarus, the three Baltic states, and especially Russia are often mentioned.
However, these countries share a common issue.
Despite this reputation, many women find it difficult to get married.
The reason is simple. There are not enough men.
Russia has a population of roughly 145 million people, but its gender ratio is extremely unbalanced, with only 86 men for every 100 women.
Across the entire population, this means there are about 11 million fewer men than women.
Globally, the average gender ratio is about 101.7 men per 100 women, meaning men slightly outnumber women worldwide.
This comparison alone shows how severe Russia’s gender imbalance really is.
In Russia, there is even a saying that men begin to disappear in their thirties, and by the time they reach retirement age at 65, fewer than half are still alive.
So what exactly is happening to Russian men?
