Tearing down statues symptomatic of 'militant-style revolution'

Sky News host Rowan Dean says the destruction of statues is a “militant and aggressive” symbol which demonstrates the academic argument for a particular ideology has transformed into a “call to arms”.
Once the statue is torn down “the logical next step is to tear down those individuals behind the statues”.
Mr Dean said the iconoclastic destruction of statue’s seen during the Black Lives Matter protests “is nothing new”.
“It’s repeated throughout history and it always seems to be associated with periods of deep political unrest when regimes are changing, when old power forces are tumbling and new ones are coming in”.
Sky News host James Morrow pointed out “the statues are just a symptom” and what people should be worrying about are the revolutionary impulses associated with the action of pulling down statues.
