María Agui Carter developed the series Culture Shock for WGBH national productions with Executive Producer Jill Janows, for which The Devil's Music was the final program. An hour-long documentary describing the untold story of the aggressive public, legal, and media campaigns against jazz music and musicians starting in the early 1900s. Thrilling music, lively interviews from leading personalities including author Studs Terkel, critic Michael Dyson, rapper Chuck D., and appearances from jazz luminaries like Marianne McPartland and Billy Taylor. With special a capella performances by contemporary vocalist Rachelle Ferrell.
