Pushpanjali is the traditional opening piece of a Bharatnatyam recital. It is an offering of flowers and prayers to the divine, the Guru, the musicians, and the audience. This item marks the beginning of the Margam and sets a devotional and respectful tone for the performance.
Set in Raga Hamsadhwani and Aadi Taal, Pushpanjali combines graceful movements with rhythmic patterns to invoke blessings for a successful recital.
