On 31 July, violent clashes broke out in Nuh, in the northern Indian state of Haryana, during a procession taken out by Hindu nationalist groups. Later that night, a mosque in Gurugram was set on fire and a 22-year-old cleric was killed. Six people died in the religious violence following which authorities imposed a curfew, suspended internet services and deployed thousands of paramilitary personnel. Parts of the state continue to remain tense. The BBC’s Arunoday Mukharjee reports.
