Over several decades, David Fairbairn has created often monumentally-scaled mixed media works of individual faces, heads and bodies. The strength and energy of the line and the made mark have been outstanding characteristics of these pieces, but as David explains to Richard Morecroft, in creating works for exhibitions at two Australian regional galleries, he has also explored the interactions and compositional possibilities of more than one sitting subject – including multiple images of himself and his partner, artist Suzanne Archer.
