I wanted to have high speeds on my Grizzly Mill to do engraving without adding a Freq. drive and over speeding the machines spindle bearings. I did this project for about the same money as the Freq. drive and other electrical components would have cost.
I am very pleased with the performance. The new spindle turns about 12,000 RPM max at the top end and about 1,000 RPM on the low end.
