The Value of a SPYDRO Underwater Fishing Camera

If you enjoy fishing as much as I do, then you can imagine the entertainment I get from having a camera affixed to my lure when a fish strikes.

Recently I have been asked a lot about my underwater fishing cameras because I’ve been seen using them throughout this spring season trying to capture some Walleye spawn activity within the deeper portions of the Detroit River.

The camera that I use is a Spydro. Little did I know that these cameras would become more of an asset and change the way I fish more so than entertainment. These cameras are better suited for inline trolling more than anything, but I have been able to rig them inline vertically. Although it’s not ideal and can be tough to jig with when you’re trying to find the bottom, but it can be done.

I have always said, “seeing is believing” and when you can see what is actually happening below the surface you can only further educate yourself. The only issue with the cameras is not really with the cameras themselves as much as it is the clarity of the Great Lakes. For the most part the Great Lakes are clear, clarity wise, but they will never be tropical-water clear. For what they are worth I could never find a better educational tool. Period.
