ଶାନ୍ତନୁ ଓ ଗଙ୍ଗାଙ୍କ ଭେଟ ମହାଭାରତର ଏକ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଆକର୍ଷଣୀୟ କଥା। ଏକଦିନ ଶିକାର କରୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ରାଜା ଶାନ୍ତନୁ ଗଙ୍ଗା ନଦୀ କୂଳରେ ଗଙ୍ଗା ଦେବୀଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖି ତାଙ୍କ ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ମୋହିତ ହେଲେ। ପରେ ସେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ବିବାହ ପ୍ରସ୍ତାବ ଦେଲେ। ଗଙ୍ଗା ଦେବୀ ଏକ ସର୍ତ୍ତ ରଖିଲେ—ରାଜା ଶାନ୍ତନୁ କେବେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାଙ୍କ କାମ କିମ୍ବା କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ। ରାଜା ଏହି ଶର୍ତ୍ତକୁ ମାନି ତାଙ୍କୁ ବିବାହ କଲେ।
