We had a tour at King County Metro's North Base, one of seven operating bases Metro uses to store, maintain, and dispatch buses from. We ended the tour with a demonstration of the procedure an operator goes through when he or she returns the bus to base at the end of the day. The process begins with refueling, followed by removing trash with a giant vacuum that attaches to the door, then the bus is washed (when appropriate), and ending with secure collection of money from the fare box.
