Sergey shows his way of mixing skin tones for a portrait: he uses primary colors without ochre, umber or sienna.
The idea of this video lesson is to demonstrate that it is possible to mix a lot of different shades for the lights and for the shadows of the portrait with primary colors (no ochre, sienna or umber) using the same basic skills that we use in oil painting. If you want to paint this portrait in oils just follow the lesson and the artist's instructions.
The artist shows his palette and gives instructions throughout the painting process.
Sergey explains that there is a difference between lights and shadows not only in tonal values but also in temperature of the color.
