Singapore (2 nights)
Vietnam - Hoi An (3 nights), Ho Chi Minh City (1 night)
Cambodia - Phnom Penh (2 nights), Siem Reap (2 nights)
Thailand - Bangkok (1 night), Chiang Mai (3 nights), Phuket (5 nights), Koh Samui (3 nights), Koh Pha Ngan (1 night)
Hong Kong (4 nights)
Macau (1 night)
Laos - Don Det (Four Thousand Islands) (4 nights), Luang Prabang (3 nights), Vang Vieng (3 nights), Vientiane (1 night)


--------------------How much did it cost?

You can live off $20-30 a day comfortably which includes food & drinks, a place to stay and entry into landmarks. If you want to do activities every couple of days like we did I would budget another $20-$50 for each activity.
Overall the 6 week trip cost about $2500-3500 including flights and everything else

--------------------How did you get around?

We took advantage of some of the cheap airfares in each country (Vietnam & Thailand). Usually the cheapest prices are for city-city in the same country, once you cross borders it can get expensive. So we crossed the border by bus between Thailand-Laos, Vietnam-Cambodia.

---------------------How did you plan it?

The trip was planned before most of the way (where we wanted to go and for how long) and we booked flights to take advantage of the price, but we booked hostels and transport on the run so we could stay longer or shorter if we had to (but researched the best places to stay and which mode of transport/cost/time etc.

---------------------Where did you stay?

We stayed mostly in hostels - trying to find the highest rated in each place. We also stayed in a hotel for a night a few times throughout the trip - depending on the experience it could give us - for example staying 1 night in Marina Bay Sands (Singapore) @ $150/each was worth it because we got access to the Infinity Pool & Skypark, same goes for staying at the largest hotel in the world, at the Venetian in Macau for $100/each.
