Douglas Anderson is the inventor of a revolutionary, ultra widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscope, the technology behind the optomap retinal exam.
In 1990, his son Leif was diagnosed with being blind in one eye and only partially sighted in the other. The reason for his blindness was an undiagnosed retinal detachment. Conventional eye checks were difficult and uncomfortable, especially for children so he set out to make retinal exams simpler and more comfortable for the patient as well as easier and less time consuming for the practitioner.
