The content primarily consists of audio recordings of Causton's lectures on the Buddhist teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. The lectures were recorded before the "priesthood issue" and emphasizes that Causton was a dedicated follower of his mentor, Daisaku Ikeda. SGI has been a separate organization from Nichiren Shoshu since the 1990s.

The reader is Bill Jarvis, and the lecture was originally audio recorded between 1980–1990. When Richard Causton refers to “Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism,” he means the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin as practiced at that time by SGI (Soka Gakkai International). Since then, SGI and the Nichiren Shoshu priesthood have separated into two organizations, with the priesthood deviating considerably from Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings.

About Richard Causton (1920–1995): First General Director of SGI-UK (1975–1995) and Vice-President of SGI Europe.

About SGI: A Buddhist organization based on Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings, whose members chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

Historical Context: Since the 1990s, SGI has operated independently of Nichiren Shoshu (also called the Danto sect). References to NSUK in older lectures now correspond to SGI-UK (www.sgi-uk.org).

Important Note: These lectures were recorded before the priesthood issue. Richard Causton consistently followed Daisaku Ikeda as his mentor, and they do not endorse the priesthood. We, as practitioners of Nichiren Buddhism, support SGI and follow Daisaku Ikeda’s guidance.
