🌴 Tuk Tuk Ride on Koh Lipe: Family Adventure on Bumpy Roads!

Back then, I never cared about steep roads, uneven paths, or whether or not there was a flashlight in my bag. But since becoming a mom, I’ve transformed into a cautious, detail-checking “Safety Scout” – packing headlamps, scouting stroller-friendly routes, and strategizing each step. Parenthood sure does change your travel priorities!

In this video, I’m sharing our experience with tuk-tuk rides on Koh Lipe, including a few things I wish I’d known before our trip. While the island is beautiful and exciting to explore, there were moments when I didn’t feel entirely safe on the tuk-tuks. Behind my smile, the steep roads and poor visibility at night were concerning – some paths have holes and rough terrain, making night rides a bit nerve-wracking.

🚶‍♂️ Stroller Accessibility
While Koh Lipe is mostly walkable, it’s not entirely stroller-friendly. The Walking Street, which connects Pattaya Beach to Sunrise Beach, is the most accessible area for strollers with its paved path, restaurants, and shops. Outside of this area, however, the roads are often sandy, narrow, or uneven. The beaches, especially, can be challenging to reach with a stroller. If you're staying near the night market, the roads are less steep, and you may not need a tuk-tuk to get around. But for the island’s trickier paths, a baby carrier is highly recommended.

🌙 Safety Tips for Night time
Since the roads are poorly lit, I’d suggest bringing a headlamp along with your mosquito repellent to help navigate safely at night, especially if you’re traveling with children.

🚗 Getting Around
Koh Lipe’s tuk-tuks can be convenient but can feel bumpy and a bit unsteady on the island's rugged paths. If you’re traveling with young children, use caution and consider walking when possible, especially in the more level areas like near Walking Street and the night market.

Despite the challenges, Koh Lipe has much to offer! Between the scenic beaches, vibrant marine life, and fun walking street, it’s a destination full of family-friendly adventures. By keeping these tips in mind, you can make the most of your time here while staying safe and comfortable.
