Forty-eight hours ago, the COMEX issued delivery notices for March 2025 silver contracts requiring physical settlement. That 48-hour contractual deadline for metal allocation and delivery preparation just expired. The silver was not delivered.
Multiple institutional traders standing for delivery of 38 million ounces received "delay notifications," cash settlement offers, and threats instead of the physical metal they purchased. The COMEX registered inventory—supposedly 47 million ounces—is functionally empty. The fractional reserve precious metals system just experienced the bank run it cannot survive.
